The word Oremus is a Latin word; it means "Let us pray." Early Christian artwork often depicts Christians with their arms raised in an act of prayer (cf. above). This posture is called the orans position.
How can I join this ministry?
You can become a part of this ministry by sending an e-mail to [email protected] and asking to be added to the list.
How will I be contacted with a prayer request?
We will contact you by e-mail.
4. Will I have to contact others?
No.
5. Is there a particular prayer I am supposed to say?
No. All we ask is that you spend some time in prayer for the particular intention. Some will want to pray the rosary or another formal prayer but others will choose to offer a prayer in their own words.
How long should I continue praying for the intention?
Some intentions will be self-explanatory: “Mary is having open-heart surgery tomorrow, please pray for her.” Others will be more open ended. Use your best judgment.
Who can be added to the list of prayer intentions?
Primarily this is a parish-based ministry meant to provide prayer support for parishioners by other parishioners. But if you have a relative or family friend who is not part of our community and they are in need of urgent prayer, please feel free to submit the request with their permission.
What sort of intentions should be submitted?
The Oremus Ministry is intended to provide prayer support for people with urgent needs such as serious illness, accidents and death. If you have an ongoing need for prayer please continue to use the Rosary Intention sheets in the rear of the Church.
How quickly will the request be circulated among the team?
We are limited by technology and personnel, but as soon as someone on the team receives the request we will attempt to spread the word in a timely manner.
